Duration: 4 week course

The Writing for Children course is delivered by published author and teacher Helen Aitchison. The course will give learners the opportunity to explore and develop writing for a young audience. From a taster course to more in-depth, it provides useful, practical advice and inspiration to those wishing to write children’s books.

Over the duration of the course, learners will gain an insight into writing children’s stories and poems.

Content includes:

• Types of children’s books, genre and novel trends
• Marketability and first-hand accounts from published authors
• Telling your story – from idea to finished piece
• Writing exercises
• Novel structure
• Writing for competitions and submissions
• Publishing routes

Please note: taster sessions will provide light touch information and guidance. 4 week courses will provide in-depth, practical activities and tutor feedback.
