Mentee’s Shortlisted for Local Competition

My local libraries hold an annual short story competition. This year, two people I have mentored over the last year, entered. Both were shortlisted and I was delighted to be invited along to the award evening as their guest. The pieces (from all shortlisted writers) were excellent and it was a great night in a lovely library.

One of the ladies, Brigid Griffin, won third place in the contest and had the opportunity to read some of her winning piece out. To add to the excitement, I will be publishing Brigid’s debut novel, When the Small Creatures Wake, through Write on the Tyne Publishing.

Congratulations to Elaine, Brigid, and all the other writers who entered and were shortlisted – so much local talent!
