International Women’s Day 2023

The 8th March is International Women’s Day. The movement started in 1911 and is a global day celebrating women and their social, cultural, economical, and political achievements.

IWD also calls to action the need for women’s equality – for a world free of discrimination, stereotypes, and bias.

IWD is part of Women’s History Month and this week on Saturday 11th March, I will be hosting a local celebration of creative women. With thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund, I have been delivering a series of writing for wellbeing across the region. The Power of the Pen has connected women who have experiences of mental ill health, physical illness, addiction, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and trauma.

Our event at Newcastle City Library will celebrate some of the phenomenal poems and prose created during the courses, bring women together to find out about local services, and celebrate everything female!

Please join us for a wonderful morning (and a cuppa and cake!)
